East Bergholt has historic connections with the famous artist John Constable; Flatford Mill, where he painted The Haywain, being just a short distance away.

East Bergholt lies a mile or two off the A12, almost exactly midway between Ipswich and Colchester, just on the Suffolk side of the border with Essex. Manningtree is close by, whilst Dedham and Hadleigh are within a short drive.
