Nutrition and Healthy Eating

Food triangleMost of us these days have some idea of what we need to do in order to look after ourselves and maintain our wellbeing. We know that we should drink a certain amount of water each day. We’re aware that we should take a bit of exercise too. And we know that we should eat a wide variety of food, especially fresh fruit and vegetables.

I am not a nutritionist or dietician but I do have a fair bit of common sense and experience built up from working with many clients over many years.

It is obvious that if you are wanting to become slimmer, fitter or healthier you will be looking into and adjusting what you eat and drink on a regular basis. Equally if you have IBS, migraines or feelings of fatigue you may well be considering whether your symptoms are related to what you consume. You should also be aware that there can be particular problems around sugar, in particular fructose (see my blog on sugar and obesity).

But sometimes eating the wrong type of food may become a habit, or an addiction. Even if your cravings are not leading to extra weight or other health problems they may well be affecting you in some way. If this is something you would like to address do give me a call on 01206 299 724 or simply email me.

Feed your body and feed your mind

It is my firm belief that if you are experiencing other problems, physical, psychological or emotional you should be thinking about your eating habits. When you are feeling anxious, suffering from stress or experiencing symptoms of depression, it is easy to fall into the habit of the quick fix, the comfort food which gives temporary relief from your symptoms but doesn’t really provide any sustenance.

At these times we often feel lacking in self love and are prone to neglect ourselves. So we feed ourselves rubbish: high sugar, high carbohydrate and fatty foods. You might feel a little better for a short while but this can hardly help your mind-body system in the process of recovery. You know that what you really need is good quality nutritious food.

Bear in mind that if you are not feeling yourself it may be partly a result of eating foods that aren’t quite right for you; food can affect your mood - see my page on individual energy toxins. Using thought field therapy techniques I can help you discover what suits you, and more importantly what may be contributing to your symptoms.

Let me leave you with this thought: When you are feeling down remember to look after yourself properly. It may well be your first step to recovery.

Client Testimonials

Liz’s approach is supportive and reassuring. She explained each stage of the therapy in a way that reassured me about the experience, and ensured that I was relaxed at each key step. I would recommend Liz as a hypnotherapist without question.
