DepressionThere are of course many types of depression, some of which are down to chemical imbalances, and others related to more severe mental illness. The depression I’m discussing here is largely the type where the stresses and strains of life become overwhelming, leading to feelings of inadequacy, lack of motivation and general despond. Many people suffer from depression at some time in their lives. Sometimes this may be in response to an obvious trauma such as a bereavement or stress at work. At other times there may seem to be no obvious cause, or there may be an accumulation of small stressors which individually would not be too troublesome. So how can hypnotherapy help depression?Firstly, through learning to relax thoroughly, the body and mind are given an opportunity to unwind and recharge the batteries, giving you the opportunity to take some time for yourself, something which many individuals rarely do. Regularly relaxing in this way, particularly if supported by a hypnosis recording tailored to the needs of the individual, is in itself extremely beneficial. Secondly, by working in partnership with a suitably qualified hypnotherapist, it is possible to examine any underlying factors which may have given rise to the depression, and begin to release any associated negative emotions. Thirdly, self limiting patterns of behaviour can be brought to light. Once there is an understanding of how such patterns can hold you back and prevent you from living the life you want then it becomes possible to choose new ways of behaving and to move on in a much more positive way. Hypnotherapy can be an effective, drug-free route out of depression, and is entirely natural. Often only a few sessions are required to bring about a positive change. And even if the depression is related to chemical imbalances or perhaps Seasonal Affective Disorder, hypnotherapy can still be of help in giving the subconscious mind positive instructions for change along with teaching HypnoHealing techniques. |
