The Little-Known, But Highly Significant Difference Between Diets, Weight Loss, and Slimming

Why three terms in our heading when surely they all mean the same sort of thing? Well it’s to encourage you to think about it. We associate dieting with deprivation and going without. Losing weight isn’t always a sign of good health; it can be a symptom of underlying illness.

But the word Slimming goes with a more positive outcome – attractiveness, fitness and health. That is what we should all be aiming for. The mind much prefers to move towards gaining something good than thinking in terms of loss or doing without.

Which words do you use when you’re thinking about what you want for your body? Are they positive ones or unhelpful negative terms?

No 1 advice for the would be Slimmer

If you have never dieted before, please don’t start now. Take a different approach. In the long term diets don’t work.

You may be someone who is just a bit dissatisfied with your figure, who has thought about losing weight but never really got to grips with it all. However, as the years go by it is getting harder and harder to keep the weight off and now it’s time to do something about it, but you don’t want to get caught in the diet trap that you’ve seen your friends fall into.

"Many people don't realise that, in the long run, dieting can just make the problem worse...

Or you may have spent years struggling with your weight. You’ve tried every weight loss scheme going. You’ve occasionally seen your weight go down…. but then it just piles back on again. You feel a failure, your self esteem is at rock bottom. It seems as if there is no way out.

If you recognise just a bit of yourself in any of these people then our special SuperSlimming programme can help you.

Why SuperSlimming?

Because we understand that dieting alone is a treatment for the symptom of over eating, ie weight gain, rather than the cause. It is rather like treating a broken bone with sticking plaster and expecting it to mend properly.

What we do at SuperSlimming is give you three keys to that slimmer fitter you, not only in the short term but for life. How you choose to use them is of course up to you.

The first key is about what you consume. A healthy range of food that suits you and your body, eaten in the right quantities over an extended period of time, will usually ensure a healthy weight. But when you decide to start something new you often want to see some results pretty quickly, to encourage you in your chosen course of action so that you are inspired to carry on. This is where our practical programme can help, targeting the bit you want to lose, the fat, and giving you noticeable results within a few weeks.

"Who's really in control? You, or your food?"

The second key is about your level of activity. Did you know that just taking 2000 extra steps a day will make a difference, helping exchange fat for muscle, boosting metabolism, releasing tension and improving your sense of wellbeing. Our practical pack includes a pedometer to help you check your current level of activity and to make that small adjustment in your activity that will make a difference.

The third key is the most important one. This is about attitude and your deep down feelings around food and eating. We all know we should eat a healthy range of food, and take regular exercise. So what is it that stops you doing those things that lead you to that slimmer healthier you? Your subconscious mind, which governs all your basic drives and behaviours. At this deep level the desire to overeat is stronger than your more conscious desire to be slim. And unless you can change that deep seated need to over eat, then it will nearly always win. Will power will eventually fade and you’ll be back to your old habits and your old weight.

At SuperSlimming we will help you make changes at that deeper level, and you will at last have the tools you need so that you can relax around food, get in control of your eating, improve your self esteem and discover that slimmer healthier you.

Here is what two of our clients have to say about their experience with SuperSlimming.

Marion, 60, lives in Ipswich and had been finding it difficult to stay slim, particularly since being diagnosed with an under active thyroid.

She decided to combine both the practical and therapeutic approach and found that she lost 1stone 2lb in about 5 weeks.

One story she tells, having followed the SuperSlimming programme, is of visiting a café, and choosing some cake. After a couple of mouthfuls she felt she’d had enough and left the remainder, no longer constrained by the feeling that she must empty the plate. She later told us that she felt SuperSlimming had at last set her free from her issues around food.

Tracey, working mother of two, decided to go for a group course, adding in the practical plan for a couple of weeks to help get started. She found that the programme not only helped her motivation to do more exercise but also improved her self esteem.

It has helped me realise it’s important to take time out to listen to your body and think about what you want and how to achieve it.
