I first came across Individual Energy Toxins, (IETs) through my involvement with Thought Field Therapy (Callahan Techniques), which is an energy based, a meridian therapy. Other such therapies are shiatsu, acupressure and acupuncture.
So what is an Individual Energy Toxin? It’s a substance, probably found in everyday life which is often harmless to most people. But for some people this substance is adversely affecting the energy system. Remember we’re not talking about physiology here, but energy.
And an IET can be anything from a particular type of fruit to an item of clothing. It could be your washing powder or perfume, or your breakfast cereal, and you may well be unaware of its effects most of the time. However, it can be creating an additional strain on your body without you even realising.
The Energy Barrel
Imagine your body’s ability to cope with the stresses and strains of life as if it is a barrel. The emptier that barrel the better, because if you then have a challenge, you have a huge capacity to cope.
Say that wheat is one of your IETs. You eat it every day and it places a bit of a strain on the body, but not so as you’d notice. Say your perfume is another IET, so top up the barrel a bit more – and you’re still coping. But you are also raising a family, working, dealing with a difficult relation, the usual stuff we have in life.
The barrel is getting quite full now. Then one day, you’re lifting the sofa to clean underneath and your back goes. And the barrel is full. Everything is just too much, things begin to unravel. You can’t cope and your back is taking far too long to recover.
Take away the toxins and the barrel is no longer full, you have a bit of spare capacity to help your body recover because its energy is no longer being drained by those toxins.
How Toxins can Affect us
They can affect our mood and behaviour.
They can affect our level of stress and anxiety
I worked with someone who had quite a severe stress problem with panic attacks. We discovered that caffeine was a toxin but the client was very resistant to eliminating it from their diet. We weren’t able to complete the work but the client did ring to say that eventually they’d gone without caffeine and it had made a noticeable difference.
They can affect chronic conditions
One of my clients had been through several back operations. She was in constant discomfort and had very little energy. She also had a fear of being in social situations. When we started uncovering toxins, it turned out that she was a very sensitive individual. She had problems with wheat, certain dairy products, washing powder, perfumes and so on. But she had nothing to lose so she started eliminating all these toxins. Her energy levels went up, her back improved, her fears and her weight went down.
Another client found their tinnitus improved considerably
when they eliminated wheat from their diet
It’s possible that they affect your long term health
Toxins can change over time and according to circumstances. I know of one lady for whom cranberry juice is generally toxic. When she had cystitis she was able to take the juice, just for the time that she was unwell. Then it became a toxin again.
They can interfere with the benefits of other therapies - If my hypnotherapy is not holding then I will start looking for toxins.
They can affect your weight. If you feel you’re doing all the right things to help your figure, but not making any progress, then it’s worth checking out your toxins.
This is not a cure
If you can understand and eliminate your toxins, that won’t in its self cure you. What you are doing is giving the body more capacity to look after and heal itself.
Cravings
Do you get cravings? Sorry, but the chances are that the thing you crave is doing you no good at all.
How do you test for toxins?
Well our bodies can tell us everything we need to know if we just give them the chance. If you are very painstaking you can work out whether something is toxic because it will affect your pulse. If you want to know how to do this, email me and I’ll send instructions.
The quickest way is to use arm testing with a qualified Thought Field Therapist (dx trained).
What else can your Thought Field Therapist do?
We can help reduce cravings
If the body is resistant to dealing with a toxin we can help overcome that resistance
We can help the immediate effects of a toxin so that clients can be treated for other problems such as phobias
This doesn’t mean you can treat for chocolate and then carry on eating it with no ill effects. But if you go out for dinner and have to eat something which you know is not good for you, then you can learn a brief treatment to help alleviate the effects.
Do you have to go without your toxins forever?
Not necessarily. The best thing is to cut them out entirely for a couple of months. You’ve then taken down the level in your barrel we talked about earlier and can experiment with reintroducing them very cautiously.
